The construction of simplified abstract forms has become a conceptual challenge within my artwork. The practice of physical craft is fueled by an intense desire to make things with my hands. Long before I knew what it meant to be an artisan I would spend my spare time inundated with the urge to invent, build and fabricate. The urge to manually create combined with a perpetual search for eccentric forms and a fascination with modern art are the catalysts forging this new work.
Andrew Maglathlin is a ceramics artist based out of Massachusetts, but currently commutes between Salve Regina University in Newport, RI and Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, CT as an adjunct faculty member teaching both an art appreciation curriculum and ceramics sculpture.
